Latest Spurs news: Dele Alli confirms he does not need surgery on broken hand

Dele Alli gave a lengthy interview to the Guardian and claimed he had improved this season despite not scoring enough goals or providing assists.

The 23-year-old England international suffered a few injuries this season, and only managed seven goals and eight assists. Alli was involved in over 30 goals in the 2017-18 season, but the injuries seem to have affected his output.

The youngster also broke his hand in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals, and the Englishman has been playing with a cast ever since.

However, Alli provided some good news regarding his problem and told the Guardian that he won’t need surgery:

“Delph’s head broke my hand. They said I could have had an operation when it first happened but I would have had to miss a few weeks.

“It’s not fully healed yet but this was the last game they said I’d need the cast. I won’t need the op, it’s healing well.”

Alli played in both of England’s Nations League final games but was below par as the Three Lions finished third.

Alli learns a lot from the season

The Englishman added he had improved certain aspects of his game despite the lack of goals:

“I haven’t scored as many goals or got as many assists but other parts of my game, defensively, in possession, not just getting on the end of things and finishing chances, I think I’ve improved on that.”

Alli was hopeful that things would fall into place for him next season as Tottenham look to win a trophy under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine took us to the Champions League final but that ended in heartbreak. Liverpool beat us 2-0, however, we had more chances than the Reds and could not take them.
