Spurs transfer news: Mauricio Pochettino offers assurances to Giovani Lo Celso

Spanish outlet El Confidencial (h/t Football.london) reports that Mauricio Pochettino contacted Giovani Lo Celso regarding Tottenham’s offer for the Argentine.

Reports (h/t Football.london) suggested that Tottenham bid between €40m and €60m for the Argentine. However, El Confidencial (h/t Football.london) claims that Tottenham have offered €40m for the 23-year-old’s services.

Real Betis want close to €80m for Lo Celso, according to the report, and Pochettino told the midfielder that Spurs’ financial condition will improve if they sell Christian Eriksen.

The Betis star is away on international duty with Argentina for the Copa America and had a great first season in La Liga too.

Lo Celso scored 16 times for the La Liga side last season and racked up five assists too. The 23-year-old’s best position is as an attacking midfielder, though he has played some games as a striker and a winger too.

The Argentine has the potential to improve further, and it will be interesting to see if we can clinch a deal for him.

The youngster joined Betis on loan from PSG and made the deal permanent in the summer.

Tottenham have difficult decisions to make regarding spending

Spurs didn’t spend any money in the previous two transfer windows and our squad was stretched severely last season due to injuries.

We need to sign some fresh faces and clubs will demand huge prices for their star players. Spurs need to be careful about their spending as we aren’t in the same position as Manchester City or Liverpool financially.

Lo Celso seems like a good player to have and if Pochettino wants the Argentine, we have to back our manager in the transfer window.
