“I’m going to cry”, “Class signing” – Several Tottenham fans on cloud nine as Spurs break transfer record

Spurs transfer news: Tanguy Ndombele joins Tottenham for club record fee

Tottenham were busy in the transfer market as they announced the capture of two players on the same day.

Jack Clarke signed from Leeds on Tuesday morning and was sent back on loan to the Championship side.

The day had more good news for Tottenham fans with regards to Tanguy Ndombele.

The Ligue 1 star signed for a club record £53.8m, which shatters the £42m we paid for Ajax’s Davinson Sanchez (h/t BBC).

The BBC adds that Ndombele’s fee could rise up to £62.8m with incentives, and the France international should slot straight into our first-team.

Tottenham making moves after a long time

Last season was a bit of a downer given that Spurs did not sign any player. The last time a new face came into the side was in January 2018. Lucas Moura was signed from Paris Saint-Germain, but signing Ndombele should be a major boost to the side.

Mauricio Pochettino did a great job by taking us to the Champions League final last season, and we should build on that result in the upcoming campaign.

Ndombele is a monster in the middle of the park and is a great Mousa Dembele replacement.

The 22-year-old was excellent for Lyon and France over the past two years and should improve further under Pochettino.

Several fans could not believe the club had pulled it off, and here are some of their reactions to Ndombele’s signing.
