“Back to work”, “Ignore the gossip mongers” – Some Tottenham fans back first-team star despite unflattering stories about holiday

Latest Spurs news: Dele Alli gets into training mode with treadmill workout

Dele Alli posted a video of him running on a treadmill ahead of pre-season with Tottenham.

The England star didn’t have a great season last time around, even though Tottenham reached the Champions League final.

Alli was hit by a hamstring injury in the second half of the campaign, and he had a long summer thanks to his involvement in the World Cup.

The 23-year-old only bagged just seven goals and three assists for us last season, and he needs to be in great shape ahead of the new season.

Fans hit out at media over Alli stories

The English youngster was enjoying his holiday in Greece recently when the Sun shared pictures of him with Ruby Mae.

The media outlet tried to put a negative spin on the player’s holiday, where he is allowed to enjoy himself before a gruelling nine-month campaign awaits.

As long as Alli performs well on the pitch, it should not matter what happens in his private life.

Many Tottenham fans were happy seeing the Englishman working out, and backed him to perform well.

Some even called out the media outlet for not reporting this side of Alli’s life, and here are some of their reactions from Twitter.

London rivals keen on landing Tottenham starlet in the January window

Crystal Palace keen on loan move for Kyle Walker-Peters

Kyle Walker-Peters seems set for a loan move in the January window, according to the Sun. The 22-year-old has featured in four games for Tottenham this season but hasn’t played for us since the Carabao Cup exit at the hands of Colchester United.

Walker-Peters started the season as our first-choice right-back but Spurs have tried Davinson Sanchez, Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier in that position too.

The report claims that Crystal Palace are keen on the 22-year-old Englishman, and it will be interesting to see if we let him leave.

A questionable call from Tottenham?

Tottenham are already light on recognised right-backs after failing to replace Kieran Trippier. The Englishman has done a great job at Atletico Madrid and has been recalled by Gareth Southgate for the national side.

Letting Walker-Peters go would leave Aurier as the only natural right-back at the club while Juan Foyth can also play in that position.

However, Aurier has been inconsistent since his arrival at Tottenham and the Ivorian has his injury problems too. Palace could offer Walker-Peters regular games but we shouldn’t let him leave unless a replacement is in store.

Tottenham’s defence has been a cause for concern this season and we have shipped 10 goals in our last two games.

Levy shares concerning message about why Tottenham couldn’t sell players in the summer

Daniel Levy highlights why Tottenham couldn’t sell players in the summer

Tottenham face problems as several players are keen on moving from the club, according to the Mirror.

Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen are in the final year of their deals and could leave for free next summer.

Daniel Levy recently spoke about Spurs not being able to sell their unwanted stars, during a meeting with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust.

The chairman explained that clubs weren’t keen on some of the players and the offers on the table weren’t acceptable either.

The minutes of the meeting read (h/t Mirror):

“DL (Levy) said Tottenham had been one of the biggest spenders among Premier League clubs in the recent transfer window. It had also not generated all the sales the club hoped for.

“DL reiterated just how difficult it is to get a transfer over the line.

“In 90 per cent of instances either a buyer could not be found for a player or the player did not wish to join the club that had expressed an interest in buying them.”

Not being able to sell players that don’t want to be at the club is a problem, and that seems to have affected us. It is a little shocking that we couldn’t get deals done and now have to keep them until January at least.

Levy suggests there could be other departures

The chairman also spoke about the players in the last year of their deals and added that Spurs couldn’t force anyone to sign a new deal. Levy also claimed that some stars have been at Tottenham for a long time and wanted to play elsewhere.

It could be a painful summer for Tottenham, with several players possibly leaving the club. This would start another rebuilding cycle and we should not have fallen into this phase after the great work done by Mauricio Pochettino.

Replacing Eriksen or Alderweireld will not be cheap. However, we will lose them for nothing if they run their contract out. Tottenham have a lot of work to do in the coming months and hopefully, we don’t lose our competitive edge.

Former England manager backs Tottenham boss Pochettino to snub Premier League rivals

Sam Allardyce backs Mauricio Pochettino to snub Manchester United job

Former Everton and England manager Sam Allardyce has backed Mauricio Pochettino to stick with Tottenham.

Manchester United and Spurs have had poor starts to the season, and Pochettino has been linked with the job at Old Trafford (h/t Metro).

However, the Red Devils are below Spurs in the table, and Allardyce claims Tottenham have a better side than United (h/t Metro):

“I can’t see Mauricio going anywhere at the moment

“At the moment, Tottenham are a better squad than Manchester United – and that is a telling fact.

“It’s alright saying, ‘this is Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world’, but has it got the team to go with it to represent Manchester United?”

Tottenham are still in a better place than United

Although our season has been far from satisfactory, Spurs are capable of turning things around. Pochettino is one of the top managers in the world and just needs to tweak certain things in the team.

United, for their part, don’t seem to have a proper game plan and most of the players aren’t doing well.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started his career at Old Trafford with a bang but after becoming the permanent manager, things haven’t been great.

They lie two points off the relegation zone and face Liverpool after the international break. Tottenham face a struggling Watford, and we should get the three points against the Hornets.

Allardyce is right in suggesting we have a better squad than the Red Devils, and it is time for the players to step up.

Pochettino can only do so much and it will be interesting to see how we perform after the international break.

Bayern Munich see Christian Eriksen as cheaper option than Philippe Coutinho

Bayern Munich are the latest giants to be linked with Christian Eriksen, according to Sport 1 (h/t Sky Sports).

The Bundesliga giants have a fantastic squad at hand but are interested in landing the Dane, who is a free agent in the summer.

The report adds that the Bavarians will fight Real Madrid for the signature of Eriksen. However, the Dane is open to leaving London for Munich (h/t Sky Sports).

The Tottenham star is one of the most creative players in the Premier League, and Bayern see him as a replacement for a summer signing.

Eriksen to replace Coutinho?

Philippe Coutinho had a woeful time at Barcelona and was allowed to join Bayern on loan in the summer.

However, the Germans see Eriksen as a cheaper option to Coutinho and he could be signed for nothing in January (h/t Sky Sports).

The Dane could do a great job at Bayern but Coutinho has had a decent start to his career in Germany.

The Brazilian has two goals and two assists from six Bundesliga games and was one of the stars during the Copa America. Eriksen, for his part, has struggled for form this season and only has one goal and an assist.

Eriksen wanted to try something in the summer, and it will be interesting to see where he plays next season.
