Spurs transfer news: Tottenham interested in Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips

The Mirror claims that Tottenham are interested in moving for Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips.

The 23-year-old is one of the best players under Marcelo Bielsa, and the report claims that Tottenham have launched a raid to land the defensive midfielder.

Phillips played a few games as a centre-back, and the report adds that Spurs can offer the Englishman a huge hike on his current £10,000-a-week contract.

The Leeds star is with the team for their pre-season training camp, and the report claims that Aston Villa have bid £11million for Phillips.

The 23-year-old was named in the EFL Team of the Season last time around and has also attracted the interest of Newcastle United while Bournemouth and Wolves were also keen on the rising star.

Leeds want to keep hold of their midfielder and believe any Premier League side would have to part with £30m to get the 23-year-old.

However, they want Phillips to sign a new deal and are confident he will remain at the club even though he rejected their first offer.

Leeds hit for a second time?

Spurs have already raided Leeds for Jack Clarke in the summer, but the English winger has returned to the Championship side on loan.

Phillips could be another smart acquisition from Mauricio Pochettino as the Englishman has a ton of potential to become better.

Phillips played 44 games in the Championship and it will be interesting to see if we sign another midfielder after nabbing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.
