Latest Spurs news: Jack Clarke explains why he returned to Leeds United

Jack Clarke was the first signing of the summer by Tottenham, but the youngster rejoined Leeds United on a season-long loan.

The 18-year-old was impressive under Marcelo Bielsa as Leeds missed out on Premier League promotion.

The Englishman played 25 games for Leeds in all competitions, however, most of his appearances came off the bench.

Clarke also made an appearance for Leeds in the 2-1 win over Guiseley.

Leeds lost to Derby in the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs, and the Englishman told the Yorkshire Evening Post (h/t Football.london) that he had some unfinished business at the club:

“It was a matter of not feeling like I deserved to go after the way we finished the season. I felt like it wasn’t right for me to go.

“I feel like we’ve got a job to do. We feel like we let a lot of people down last season and we’ve got to put it right this year.”

The youngster further added that taking Leeds to the Premier League was a dream for him:

“It would mean everything to me to get this club back to the Premier League. It would be a childhood dream.”

Clarke admitted that things would be tougher for him next season, with more people knowing about him.

Clarke needs to continue his improvement

The Englishman is one of the brightest talents in the Championship, but he still needs to improve further.

The 18-year-old needs to start games regularly, and it will be interesting to track his progress under Bielsa in the upcoming campaign.

The winger could be a great signing for the future and Bielsa’s links with Mauricio Pochettino should be great for the Englishman.
