Latest Spurs news: Levy promises to work on improving the squad

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has confirmed that improving the squad is a priority for the club after the completion of the new stadium.

Spurs moved into their new home during the second half of last season but did not sign any players in the transfer windows.

Tottenham did break their transfer record to sign Tanguy Ndombele (h/t Football.london) this summer and have to build on reaching the Champions League final last season.

Speaking at a press conference after a bumper deal with sponsors AIA was confirmed, Levy confirmed that the new deal doesn’t put pressure on the team and improving the squad is important (h/t Football.London):

“I don’t think it puts any pressure on us.

“We have of course embarked on two very big capital projects. We will always look to continue to improve the squad.

“I’d like to think we’re going in a very positive direction. The next priority now after the stadium is how we can improve not only the commercial side of the club but also the football side.”

Spurs eyeing some big deals

Ndombele was excellent for Lyon over the past two years and should be a hit at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Football.london adds that Spurs are expected to complete more deals, with players such as Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso set to join.

Paulo Dybala is a shock target who has been linked with Spurs recently (h/t Football.london) and it will be interesting to see if we can seal a deal for the Argentine.

Building the stadium was important for Spurs and the structure is one of the best in the world.

Spurs now need to invest in the team and catch up with some of our rivals. Ndombele alone cannot take us to the next level and hopefully, we add more players before the window ends.
