Spurs transfer news: Newcastle unable to sign Rose due to wage demands

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce is finding it difficult to land Danny Rose, according to the Sun.

The English defender was left behind by Tottenham ahead of their pre-season Asia tour and is free to find a new club in the summer.

Tottenham value the England international at £20million and Bruce made Rose his first-choice left-back target in the summer, according to the report.

However, Rose’s wages are proving to be a stumbling block with the Englishman earning £60,000-a-week at Spurs (h/t Sun).

Newcastle are looking to sign players close to the £50,000-a-week mark, which puts Rose out of the picture for the Magpies (h/t Sun).

Bruce took over from Rafa Benitez in the summer and will find it tough to replicate the Spaniard’s results at the club.

Rafa dealt with a limited budget but ensured Newcastle remained a Premier League club.

Interest there for Rose

The report adds that Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are interested in the Tottenham left-back.

PSG have already signed a former Premier League star, Ander Herrera, in the summer, while Juventus are under ex-Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

The French champions are slightly ahead of Juventus in the race for Rose, given that they are willing to provide a larger salary to the Englishman (h/t Sun).

Spurs haven’t made any defensive signings this summer with Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke joining the side.
