Spurs transfer news: Real Madrid enter race for Fernandes

Portuguese outlet Record (h/t Express) claims that Real Madrid have entered the race for Bruno Fernandes.

The Express reports that Manchester United and Tottenham are also interested in the 24-year-old Sporting Lisbon star.

Mauricio Pochettino had shown his displeasure regarding a lack of transfers at the club, and a move for the Portugal international would keep the manager happy ahead of the new season (h/t Express).

The report adds that Fernandes looked set to move to the Premier League, but Madrid coming into the race could push them into a great position.

Real looking to switch targets in the summer

The Madrid giants have been linked with Paul Pogba and Christian Eriksen in the summer but they could use Jorge Mendes in landing Fernandes (h/t Express).

This would rule out moves for the Premier League pair, and that could be good news for Spurs too.

Eriksen could end up staying at Tottenham for the upcoming season too, however, he could leave for free once his contract expires at the end of next season.

Duncan Castles provided an update on Fernandes and claimed that Sporting had not received any bids for the talented midfielder (h/t Express);

“As of [Tuesday], Sporting had not received any offers from the Premier League or Serie A for Bruno Fernandes, according to Sporting.”

Spurs have less than a week to wrap up their transfer dealings and hopefully, we see more players coming in before the start of the season.
