Spurs transfer news: Tottenham expected to clinch Sessegnon deal on deadline day
Sky Sports claims that Tottenham will complete the signing of Ryan Sessegnon today.
The 19-year-old English star has been one of the long-term targets for Mauricio Pochettino, and the two clubs have agreed on a deal for Sessegnon (h/t Sky Sports).
The youngster was one of the top players in the Championship and helped Fulham attain promotion to the Premier League. However, he only scored twice in the league last season as Fulham were relegated back to the Championship.
Sessegnon missed Fulham’s season opener against Barnsley due to an injury, but his capture would be one of the best deals of the summer.
The Fulham starlet has the potential to become a great player and working under Pochettino could help the youngster reach his potential.
Sessegnon could be the versatile player we desperately need
The 19-year-old can play as a left-back or in the attack, and it will be interesting to see where Pochettino fields him.
Sessegnon’s best performances have come in the attacking positions, but we have the likes of Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura, Son Heung-min and Dele Alli who can play up top.
The 19-year-old could develop into a quality left-back but Spurs have Danny Rose and Ben Davies as the more experienced options for that role.
Rose was allowed to search for a new club in the summer but has not been able to seal a move away from Tottenham so far.

The English defender looks set to stay at the club though, with the Sun claiming that Rose is unable to seal an exit due to a lack of offers.
