Spurs transfer news: Eriksen promised Levy he won’t join a Premier League club

Christian Eriksen is out of a contract at the end of the upcoming season and has been linked with a move to Manchester United (h/t Mirror).

However, the Dane has ended discussions with the Red Devils due to a promise he made to Daniel Levy earlier in his Spurs career, according to the Daily Mail (h/t Mirror).

The report claims that Eriksen promised the Tottenham chairman he would not join another Premier League club when Chelsea were linked with the Dane in 2017.

Eriksen has spent close to six seasons at Tottenham since his move from Ajax and does not want to harm his reputation (h/t Mirror).

Real Madrid have been one of the other clubs linked with the Dane, and the report claims that Los Galacticos is the first-choice for the former Ajax star.

The transfer to Real Madrid isn’t straightforward though, with Zinedine Zidane interested in signing Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek (h/t Mirror).

Spurs have already made some sales this summer, and have until the end of the month to negotiate with foreign clubs regarding player sales.

However, Mauricio Pochettino can only buy players until the end of the day as the Premier League starts on Friday.

Hopefully, we sign a replacement for the Dane before the end of the window and then sell him in case he does not extend his contract at Tottenham.
