Bruno Fernandes was exceptional for Sporting Lisbon in the previous season
Diario AS (h/t Daily Mail) reports that Sporting Lisbon have offered Bruno Fernandes to Real Madrid.
The midfielder enjoyed a great season with Sporting last time around and scored 32 goals in all competitions.
The 24-year-old wants a move away from the Portuguese giants, and the report claims that Tottenham saw a bid fail for the midfielder.
Manchester United was also touted as a summer destination for the Portugal international, with Sporting valuing their star at £64million (h/t Daily Mail).
However, the latest news would come as a blow to Spurs’ hopes of landing Fernandes. Sporting have told Madrid they can sign the 24-year-old if their demands are met, according to the report.
The European transfer window is open until 2nd September and Real are trying to land either Paul Pogba or Neymar (h/t Daily Mail).
The Spanish giants will only consider a move for Fernandes should they fail to land any of their other signings.
Real have spent big in the transfer window already, after signing Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard amongst other players.
Tottenham have pulled off some great signings in the summer too, and it will be interesting to see what happens with Fernandes in the coming days. Moving to Real doesn’t always guarantee success and they could end up signing another midfielder.
Spurs could have done with someone like Fernandes scoring goals from the midfield.
However, Giovani Lo Celso could provide us with that extra firepower from the middle of the pitch this season.
