Neil Lennon hints at Victor Wanyama move in January

Celtic manager Neil Lennon hasn’t ruled out a move for Victor Wanyama in the January window. The Kenyan played for the Hoops before moving to Southampton in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has struggled with injuries over the past couple of seasons and has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham.

Victor Wanyama

Wanyama was subject to a lot of interest from Club Brugge in the summer (h/t Sun) but the 28-year-old was unable to seal an exit from the Champions League finalists.

Lennon confirmed there was interested in the former Celtic star and added that there could be a move in the winter window (h/t Express):

“There was interest but it never got off the ground.

“Could we look at it again in January? We’ll have to wait and see.

“We might not want to with the balance of the squad now, as well as the affordability.”

Wanyama needs to move for starts

The Kenyan could be a smart addition to Celtic and it will be interesting to see if he leaves in the winter window.

Wanyama will find it hard to get starts at Tottenham given the signing of Tanguy Ndombele. Oliver Skipp should also get a few minutes from the bench and a few cup starts.

The Kenyan was excellent in his debut season for Spurs but hasn’t been able to kick-on since that campaign.

It was a surprise seeing him remain at the club beyond the summer window given the increased competition for first-team spots.

Wanyama hasn’t played any games for us this season and that might change once the cup competitions start.
