Tottenham attacker on four-man list to replace ageing Barcelona forward

Barcelona target Harry Kane as Luis Suarez replacement

Barcelona are planning for life without Luis Suarez and are in the hunt for his successor.

Mundo Deportivo (h/t Mirror) claims that the Catalans have shortlisted four strikers who they see as a long-term successor to the Uruguayan.

Suarez has been excellent since joining from Liverpool, however, age is catching up to him. The forward has looked a little out of sorts in recent months and will turn 33 next year.

Harry Kane is one of the players on the four-man list, according to the report, with Marcus Rashford also in the midst.

Kane has been linked with an exit from Tottenham due to a lack of silverware (h/t Mirror). The start of our season hasn’t gone well either and it will take a bit of a miracle for us to land a trophy.

The FA Cup is still on for us, but our performances have been well below par this season.

Kane trying his best for the team

The Englishman has scored five goals for us this season but just isn’t getting enough service from the others.

The 26-year-old is possibly the best striker in the world and would fit into any top side. Barcelona need to think about the future with Lionel Messi also in the same ageing boat as Suarez.

Harry Kane

Kane recently signed a new deal with Spurs and losing him would be a huge blow to the team.

We have built a team around the Englishman and losing the jewel in the crown would hurt us a lot in the long run.

Tottenham could ask for a huge sum for the 26-year-old, and it will help in the rebuilding of the side.

However, we have seen this happen before with Gareth Bale’s transfer and that didn’t work out too well for us.

Ditching a corporate job to follow a dream isn’t easy, but when football comes calling, who can say no? Been following the beautiful game since 1998.

Jose Mourinho interested in moving for Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Jose Mourinho is interested in landing former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, according to the Telegraph.

The Swede is available on a free transfer in January after his spell with the LA Galaxy ended.

Mourinho has worked with Zlatan in the past during their times at Inter Milan and United. The 38-year-old was signed by the new Tottenham manager in 2016 at Manchester and scored 26 goals for them.

The Telegraph adds that such a move could suit Zlatan, given that we didn’t replace Fernando Llorente in the summer.

We don’t have a back-up for Harry Kane, however, there is interest from several Italian clubs for the Swede too (h/t Telegraph).

Zlatan only a short-term option

Tottenham see Ibrahimovic as a short-term solution and may not offer him the 18-month contract he desires (h/t Telegraph).

There are also concerns regarding his wages and Tottenham don’t want to damage their pay structure at the moment (h/t Telegraph).

However, Ibra could be tempted to join the club as he could help us land a trophy with Mourinho by his side (h/t Telegraph).

We didn’t win anything under Mauricio Pochettino and it will be interesting to see if Mourinho can turn things around for us quickly.

Spurs could do with the talented Swede coming in, however, he is a tough character to deal with. Mourinho can work with that but Ibra would have to be on the bench for most games as Kane is our first-choice forward.

The Swede has a ton of experience of playing for top clubs and has represented Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus and Barcelona during his illustrious career.

Jose Mourinho wants to sign Nemanja Matic, Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes

Jose Mourinho has shared his three main transfer targets to Daniel Levy, according to the Independent (h/t Express).

The report claims that Mourinho is hopeful of strengthening Tottenham in the winter window.

The three players that the new boss wants are Nemanja Matic, Ruben Dias and Bruno Fernandes (h/t Express).

Bruno Fernandes

Mourinho knows Matic from their time at Chelsea and Manchester United. The Serbian midfielder is set to leave the Red Devils (h/t Express) and it will be interesting to see if the manager can nab him from his ex-club.

Portuguese stars to save Tottenham’s season?

Tottenham have struggled this season for consistency. We lie 14th in the Premier League and need a string of wins to close the gap on the top four.

Fernandes has been linked with a move to the Premier League too (h/t Express) and has been in fine form this season.

The 25-year-old has eight goals this season and could provide more attacking quality to the midfield.

The report claims that Fernandes could replace Christian Eriksen, who is a free agent at the end of the season.

Dias is an interesting name, given that he is one of the brightest defenders in Portugal. The 22-year-old has forced his way into the national team and could be a long-term replacement for Jan Vertonghen or Toby Alderweireld (h/t Express).

Tottenham didn’t spend a lot during the winter windows under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

It will be interesting to see if that changes in January as we start a new era with Mourinho at the helm.

Jose Mourinho plots Gareth Bale return as new Tottenham manager

Jose Mourinho is planning an incredible move to re-sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid.

The new Tottenham boss has a lot of work to do after a tough start to the season. Mauricio Pochettino was replaced by the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan manager, and there could be some big moves on the horizon.

Gareth Bale

AS (h/t Sun) claims that Mourinho is plotting a move to bring Bale back to Tottenham. The Welsh winger joined Real from Spurs in 2013, however, he hasn’t had the best of relationships with current manager Zinedine Zidane (h/t Telegraph).

The 30-year-old seemed set to move to the Chinese Super League in the summer but Real blocked that move (h/t Sun).

Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has also claimed that a winter move from the Spanish capital would not take place (h/t Sun).

Euro 2020 celebrations could see Bale move

The Welshman helped his nation seal a place in Euro 2020 and his celebrations didn’t go down well.

Bale and his teammates held a Welsh flag which said “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order”.

That could open the door for Mourinho to swoop in but Manchester United are also keen on the 30-year-old (h/t Sun).

Bale could still do a job for a top club, but he isn’t a long-term solution given his age.

It is going to be an interesting couple of months till the winter window for Mourinho. The Portuguese will have some time to judge the current crop of players and then make a decision on their futures.

Jose Mourinho aims dig at former clubs while speaking on Tottenham’s academy

Jose Mourinho has already taken a swipe at his former clubs regarding youth products.

The Portuguese became Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement after the Argentine was sacked.

Mou himself has been without a job since leaving Manchester United last year but seems ready to turn things around at Spurs.

The Portuguese doesn’t have a great track record of promoting youth players, however, he took a dig at his former clubs regarding this.

Tottenham have seen Harry Winks, Harry Kane and Kyle Walker-Peters come through the ranks, and Mourinho was open to handing young players chances.

The ‘Special One’ was speaking to the club’s channel and said (h/t Sun):

“There is not one manager in the world that doesn’t like to play young players and to help young players to develop – not one.”

Mourinho, however, claimed that his former clubs didn’t actually have a good system in place, unlike Tottenham:

“The problem is that sometimes you get into clubs where the work that is below you is not good enough to produce these players.

“So I look to our history and you see that the academy is always giving talents the first team need.

“Of course I always look forward to working with that profile.”

Spurs to make a winning start under Mou?

Our first game under Mourinho isn’t easy with trip to the London Stadium.

West Ham are also struggling under Manuel Pellegrini, and this could be a big match for both sides.

Tottenham need a win to get their season going, and we could put the West Ham manager under more pressure by beating them.
