Jose Mourinho joined Tottenham after 18-month Harry Kane guarantee
Jose Mourinho demanded that Tottenham do not sell Harry Kane for 18 months before agreeing to the job, according to the Express (h/t Daily Star).
Tottenham sacked Mauricio Pochettino and quickly replaced the Argentine with the Portuguese.
Mourinho had been without a job since getting the sack at Manchester United last season but sought assurances over Kane’s future before committing to Spurs.
The report claims that Mourinho sees Kane as an integral part of the team and wants to win silverware with the club.
Daniel Levy agreed to the demand of keeping Kane till 2021 (h/t Daily Star) and Mourinho has a great record of winning titles during his managerial career.
However, three players could be on the chopping block by the former Chelsea and United manager.
Three big names to be let go off
The new Spurs manager is open to selling Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld if they do not sign new deals (h/t Daily Star).
The trio are free agents at the end of the season and it will be interesting to see what happens to them in the January window.
Mou has to work with the players at hand but could use the funds from the trios sale in the January window (h/t Daily Star).
Tottenham have a decent squad, even if we take our the out of contract trio, and this could be one of Mou’s biggest tests ever.
