Marcelo Bielsa provides update on Jack Clarke after Mauricio Pochettino sacking
Marcelo Bielsa has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking has no bearing on Jack Clarke’s future.
The English winger signed for Tottenham in the summer and was loaned back to the Elland Road club.
Clarke made a name for himself under Bielsa in the previous campaign but has struggled for regular game time this season.
The winger has a couple of Carabao Cup games under his belt but hasn’t featured in the Championship yet.
Tottenham shook things up in midweek by sacking Mauricio Pochettino and replacing him with Jose Mourinho.
Bielsa was asked if Clarke’s situation at Leeds would change given the current events.
However, the Argentine claimed he wasn’t in contact with Poch and is trying to develop the winger himself (h/t Leeds Live):
“I never spoke with Pochettino about Jack Clarke.
“I didn’t talk with anyone at Tottenham about him. About his job it’s the same situation.
“Every day I try to do the best for Clarke. After, Tottenham and Clarke will value if we are doing enough with him.”
Clarke needs games
It would be great if Clarke is recalled by Spurs in the winter window.
The 18-year-old has to play regular games, and a lack of minutes is hampering his development.
It will be interesting to see if Mourinho takes a call on the Englishman’s future in January. Spurs need to freshen up the team and the winter window allows us to make some moves.
