Giovani Lo Celso considering leaving Tottenham in January
Things don’t look good for summer signing Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine joined Tottenham on loan from Real Betis with an option to make the move permanent later on.
Lo Celso was excellent for Betis in the previous campaign and also featured for Argentina during the Copa America.
However, injuries cut short his time on the pitch under Mauricio Pochettino. Lo Celso’s fortunes haven’t improved under Jose Mourinho with just two minutes in the last three games.
The Daily Mail (h/t Calciomercato) claims that Lo Celso is unhappy with his time at the club. The midfielder is considering leaving Spurs in January unless we decide to use the buy option in his contract.
Lo Celso’s time on the pitch has been further reduced thanks to Dele Alli’s form. The English midfielder has scored three goals and provided one assist since Mourinho took charge of the club.
Tough times for Lo Celso
The switch of a manager midway through the season isn’t great for some players. The Argentine could have thrived under Pochettino, and it will be interesting to see how Mourinho uses him in the coming weeks.
Lo Celso has a month to prove his ability to Mourinho and there are some big games coming up too.
Spurs face Bayern Munich and Chelsea in the coming weeks, and Lo Celso could feature in some of these games.
