Twitter reacts as 10-men Tottenham lose 2-0 to Chelsea

Jose Mourinho has always been the ultimate party pooper. The perfect example is of him shushing the Anfield crowd as his Chelsea team drove the wind out of Liverpool’s title bid in 2014.

The same was expected of him as his Tottenham side took on Chelsea in an encounter that will have massive ramifications for the race to a Champions League spot.

Instead, it was the student outdoing the master as Frank Lampard is the Grinch ended up being the Grinch who stole Spurs’ Christmas.

Victory could have seen Tottenham head into Christmas in the fourth spot. Instead, they now find themselves 6 points off in 7th place, with Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers above them.

Regardless of the importance of the fixture, Spurs fans have every right to be angry at the players’ inability to show up for a derby against arch-rivals Chelsea.

Tottenham seemed to lack any sort of gameplan and were completely dominated by Chelsea, who ran rings around the Spurs players.

With Son Hueng-Min getting sent off for kicking out at Rudiger, Chelsea tightened the noose and saw the game out. The night got much worse for Tottenham as racist chants were heard from a section of the crowd.

With a little more than half the season to go, there is still plenty of time to make up for lost points but anyone who witnessed today’s match will question if this Spurs team has the character to do so.
