On-loan Tottenham star extends spell with League Two outfit

George Marsh extends his loan at Leyton orient till the end of the season

Tottenham have agreed to extend the loan spell of 21-year-old midfielder George Marsh until the summer. (h/t Leyton Orient)

The midfielder has joined League Two Outfit Leyton Orient on a 6-month loan in the summer. He has now extended his tenure until the summer after impressing with the O’s.

Leyton Orient coach Ross Embleton has spoken of his joy at the deal.

“I’m absolutely delighted that he has signed for the rest of the season. It’s fantastic for us as a Club and for George and his development.

We’re delighted to have him. From our perspective, he is a good player that we can have again for the second half of the season.”

Marsh made his O’s debut against Southend United in the Leasing.com Trophy and he has gone on to make 18 appearances for the club.

The midfielder’s versatility has been a boon to Leyton with the player having played a variety of positions ranging from attack to midfield and even at right-back. Marsh’s work rate and performances have endeared him to the O’s faithful making him a crowd favorite at Brisbane Road.

The youngster’s contract at Spurs runs until 2021 and was part of the 26 man squad for the UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool.

Marsh made his debut for Tottenham in the 7-0 away win to Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup in 2019. Coming on a substitute the midfielder played the last 25 minutes of the game.

The youngster was part of the Spurs pre-season preparations and performed admirably when called upon.

Whether his future is at Spurs or not is up for debate. But the experience of regular playtime at Lyton is rue to benefit the youngster.
