Former Spurs star Christian Eriksen recently joined Italian giants Interm Milan for £17million in the January transfer window.
The Dane has opened the lid on his final season at Tottenham and the circumstances that led to his departure. Eriksen has stated that he was made the scapegoat for refusing to extend his contract at North London. (h/t Evening Standard)
“I did get the blame for a lot of stuff, for being the bad guy. I read I was the bad person in the changing room, that ever since I said I wanted to leave, it was no good me being there.”
Speaking in his first interview since his move, the midfielder admitted that Spurs were still suffering a hangover from the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool.
The midfielder spoke about the uncertainty surrounding his departure from Spurs and the awkwardness involved in believing every game would be his last. He still made 27 appearances for Tottenham this season.
Eriksen admitted to having talked with Manchester United regarding a summer transfer worth £50 million. The midfielder dismisses it as an easy way out in his look for a new challenge.
Eriksen has also hinted at his future being controlled by what chairman Daniel Levy wants and his lack of choice in the matter apart from going about his job professionally.
Eriksen joined Tottenham in 2013 and quickly went on to establish himself as a key member of the team. He scored 69 times in 305 appearances in his six-and-a-half years at the club. (h/t Whoscored)
