Hakim Ziyech celebrates scoring against Spurs in May.

Tottenham Hotspur have already been dealt a summer transfer blow, days after the closure of the January transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs’ fierce rivals Chelsea are in advanced talks to sign Ajax starlet Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and a £38m deal is likely to be completed in days.

The Eredivisie forward had previously been linked with a switch to North London, and only recently was championed with a move to Spurs by former player and Dutch football icon Rafael van der Vaart.

Whether Spurs were really interested in the player remains to be seen.

Jose Mourinho to hold tactics masterclass

The signing of Ziyech’s former Eredivisie colleague Steven Bergwijn from PSV is a small indication as to the way the “Special One” will tactically set up moving forward, with the Portuguese boss notorious for his focus on fast counter-attacking football.

According to The London Evening Standard, Mourinho is set to hold a tactics masterclass this week as the Spurs players return from their respective winter breaks.

The 57-year-old had travelled to Germany over the weekend to watch Tottenham’s Champions League opponents RB Leipzig in their 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich and is now preparing to focus on tactics this week prior to Spurs’ clash with Aston Villa on Sunday.
