Alan Hutton expects Tottenham to sell Juan Foyth in the summer
Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Alan Hutton has tipped Spurs to sell defender Juan Foyth in the summer transfer window. (h/t Football Insider)
The 22-year old joined the club from Estudiantes in 2017 for £8 million. Three years on the move hasn’t exactly according to plan with the player largely confined to fringe roles.
Foyth has made just 30 appearances for Tottenham with seven of them coming this season. (h/t Transfermarkt). The Player’s agent had previously hinted at the Argentine’s wish to leave the club in January.
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho dismissed the notion of the defender leaving on loan in January. In spite of him claiming the 22-year-old to be a better defender than Serge Aurier, the Ivorian continues to start every game while Foyth has hardly had a sniff.
Hutton believes that the player is better served seeking a challenge elsewhere.
“I do think that he’s one they will look to move on, probably with a few others also.”
The former Spurs defender believes that Foyth has enough chances to prove himself under Mauricio Pochettino. He also criticized the player for his rashness before indicating that he isn’t the type of player Mourinho likes.
