Tottenham look to beat Sheffield United to Fenerbahce’s Altay Bayindir

According to Turkish Football (h/t Football London), Tottenham have entered the race to sign Fenerbahce’s Altay Bayindir.

The 21-year-old has impressed in the Turkish League and has also garnered interest from Sheffield United and various Bundesliga sides. Bayindir joined Fenerbahce from Ankaragucu in 2019 and has gone to play 22 times for the club.

The shot-stopper has kept five clean sheets while conceding 25 goals during this time.

Altay Bayindir can be a long term replacement for Hugo Lloris

At 6ft 5in, the Turk is an imposing figure who can potentially become a dominant presence in goal. Hugo Lloris is 33-years-old and it is imperative that  Tottenham look to replace the aging Frenchman in the coming years.

Premier League rivals Sheffield United too are in need of a keeper owing with the impressive Dean Henderson’s loan set to expire this summer. Tottenham are a much better proposition than Sheffield and should be able to beat the Blades to the player if the club is serious about doing so.

Bayindir is yet to make his debut for the Turkish national team. He received his first call up for the senior squad in November and was on the bench in the 2-0 victory over Andorra.

Still a youngster, Bayindir has done well to become a regular for Fenerbahce since his summer move. If he develops as expected, he could very well solve Spurs’ goalkeeping requirements for the next decade.
