A dressing room injury ruled Ryan Sessegnon out of Chelsea clash

Tottenham Hotspur’s Ryan Sessegnon missed out on the clash against Chelsea due to a hamstring injury picked up in the dressing room, accrding to the Evening Standard.

With Spurs suffering from a spate of injuries to their attacking stars, the omission of the 19-year-old from the 18-man squad led to some confusion among the Spurs fans. It has now been revealed that the player was injured.

The youngster is capable of playing at left-wing and has a history of scoring goals. He scored an impressive 15 goals for Fulham in the Championship as a 16-year old showcasing his pedigree in front of goal.

Sessegnon has struggled to find regular playtime under Jose Mourinho. The injury crisis was an opportune chance for him to show the Portuguese tactician exactly what he is capable of.

Since there has been no official word from the club, fans will hope that it is nothing serious to be worried about. Oliver Skipp replaced the Sessegnon in the squad.

More options to try out

The availability of the youngster could have given Mourinho more options going forward. By playing him as a left-winger, Steven Bergwijn could have moved upfront as a makeshift striker.

Sessegnon’s versatility is something that can be taken advantage of in times of crisis. It is debatable how well it could have worked but at the very least it would give us more options to try out.

The youngster joined Spurs in the summer in a cash plus part-exchange deal involving Spurs youngster Josh Onomah. A hamstring injury suffered in June kept him out of action until October following which he has made 11 appearances for the club.
