Tottenham to battle Arsenal for this promising 21-year-old La Liga full-back

Tottenham to face off against Arsenal for Marc Cucurella

Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle it out with arch-rivals Arsenal for the signature of young Barcelona full-back Marc Cucurella, according to Cadena Cope (h/t Football.London)

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Getafe. Cucurella has been an everpresent for the Azulones as they find themselves in fifth spot in La Liga, just a point behind 3rd-placed Atletico Madrid.

A versatile player, Cucurella can play anywhere along the left flank while also being able to step up on the right side of the midfield. Primarily a full-back, the youngster has predominantly started higher up the pitch in midfield for Getafe. He has scored once and grabbed five assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.

His performances have garnered attention not only from the North London duo but also from Sevilla, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Initially starting off at Espanyol, the player later moved to Barcelona in 2012 and progressed up the ranks at the Nou Camp. Cucurella has recently also spent time on loan at Eibar before joining Getafe on a season-long loan at the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

According to the report, the player has a release clause of £20.9million that Tottenham are willing to pay. Tottenham already strengthened their left flank in January by signing Steven Bergwijn. With Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon already at the club, signing Cucurella will give Jose Mourinho strong options for the left flank.
