Tottenham make official announcement that season ticket sale is delayed amidst coronavirus shutdown
Tottenham Hotspur postpone season ticket renewals for 2020-21 season
Tottenham Hotspur have revealed that they will not be opening season ticket renewals for the upcoming season as scheduled. This decision comes in the light of the coronavirus pandemic that has brought the current season to a grinding halt.
The update was posted by the club on the official site yesterday. Spurs were supposed to open season ticket renewals today, with fans being given time to purchase their tickets for next season before Friday, May 1.
However, owing to the uncertainty over the conclusion of the current campaign, Tottenham have announced that they have postponed the sale of season tickets.
Following the spread of the coronavirus, the Premier League took the decision to suspend all football activities until the 3rd of April. It is not certain if matches will resume after the date or if there will be further delays.
Lack of clarity the reason
Owing to this uncertainty, the fate of the current season hinges in the balance. In the statement, the club revealed that they are aware of the uncertain and difficult time. Given the circumstances, they have no other choice than to postpone the renewal until further clarity is obtained.
The opening date for renewal is currently under review and Tottenham will keep their fans updated regarding the latest developments. The club also thanked the supporters for their patience and understanding as they strive to minimize the effect of the virus on staff and squad.
Spurs are currently eighth in the league and are seven points behind 4th-placed Chelsea. The unexpected suspension could work out in our favour. The likes of Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko, and Ben Davies are close to a return and could help us launch a renewed assault for the top four.
