Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Matias Vecino

Inter Milan want £18million for Tottenham target Matias Vecino

According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport (h/t Football.london), Italian giants Inter Milan have tagged an asking price of £18million for Matias Vecino, who has attracted interest from both Tottenham and Everton.

The 28-year-old made the move to the San Siro from Fiorentina in 2017. He has since made 94 appearances for the Nerazzurri and has scored 11 goals and six assists.

Vecino’s name will be familiar to Spurs fans. The midfielder scored a late winner last season as Inter beat us 2-1 in the Champions League group stage opener. Ultimately, we had the last laugh and qualified at the Italians’ expense.

The midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Inter with Antonio Conte preferring to use Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic and Borja Valero when fit. Stefano Sensi’s good form has also seen Vecino go out of favour.

The capture of Danish superstar Christian Eriksen has also further limited Vecino’s chances and he would be better off moving elsewhere. The Uruguayan has three goals and one assist for Inter in 23 appearances this season.

Conte was reluctant to let the midfielder go in the January window. Inter were then three points behind defending champions Juventus as they attempted to win their first Scudetto in 10 years.

That has now changed and the Nerazzurri are willing to sell the midfielder leave for the asking price and nothing less. Premier League rivals Everton are also interested in the player.
