Tanguy Ndombele responds to Barcelona and PSG rumours

In an Instagram Q&A with fans, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has responded to speculations linking him with a summer move to Barcelona and PSG.

The 23-year-old Ndombele signed for us last summer in a £55m deal from Olympique Lyon. But, the Frenchman has had a stop-start campaign in England with injuries hampering his progress.

Ndombele was at the receiving end of some harsh words from manager Jose Mourinho following a poor display in the Premier League game against Burnley (h/t Metro).

Ever since, his future at Tottenham has become a subject of speculation. The Mirror reported last week that Barcelona were looking at the 23-year-old, while PSG are also monitoring the Frenchman.

Ndombele was asked about these speculations on Instagram by a fan. The fan quizzed the midfielder if he preferred a move to or Barcelona or PSG, and the 23-year-old has issued a short response in French dismissing the speculations. His response to the question translates to “Keep Lying”.

It is nice to see the Frenchman deny these speculations, despite there being question marks over his place in the Tottenham team under Mourinho. Ndombele was completely omitted from our matchday squad by Mourinho for the Champions League Round of 16 second leg contest against RB Leipzig.

As things stand, Ndombele finds himself behind Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko, who is closing in on a return from injury, in the pecking order. But, in his short time with the club, there have been glimpses of his talent and ability.

So far, Ndombele has scored twice and set up four more in 27 appearances across all competitons. Here’s hoping that he puts his head down, works hard and goes on to realize his immense potential with Tottenham going forward.
