Jose Mourinho keen on signing Raul Jimenez for Tottenham

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is planning to use his links with Jorge Mendes to land Raul Jimenez, according to Soccer Link (h/t Birmingham Live).

The Mexican has been incredible for Wolverhampton Wanderers since they returned to the Premier League.

Jimenez has 16 goals and 6 assists for Wolves across all competitions this season. The 28-year-old also bagged 13 Premier League goals last season under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Spurs aren’t the only ones keen on him, with Real Madrid and Manchester United also interested (h/t Birmingham Live). The report claims that Mendes has been instrumental in landing several signings for Wolves, including Jimenez.

Big money needed for Jimenez

The Mexican was signed from Benfica for £32.6million (h/t Birmingham Live). The report adds that any club wanting to land the forward would have to spend big too.

Mourinho is keen to sign some competition for Harry Kane, especially with the Englishman missing a lot of action this season (h/t Birmingham Live).

Jimenez has been one of the top forwards in the Premier League over the past two years and is partly responsible for Wolves’ rise.

Wolves lie in sixth place currently and are just five points off fourth-placed Chelsea. Santo has done an incredible job, and it will be interesting to see if we can land Jimenez.

We do need a forward to not only cover for Kane but also give him quality competition. Troy Parrott hasn’t been provided with enough chances to impress under Mourinho, and it was a risky move not to sign a forward at the start of the season.

Vincent Janssen was sold to Monterrey while Fernando Llorente left for free. Kane has a history of missing games due to injury, and it has happened this season too.

Jimenez would make a wonderful signing given his abilities, and he could make our attack better.
