Tottenham face Chelsea, Manchester United competition for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
Tottenham Hotspur are involved in a three-way battle for securing the signing of Lazio’s Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (h/t Daily Mail).
The 25-year-old Serbian international is one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe. Having arrived at Lazio in 2015 from Genk, Milinkovic-Savic has made 194 appearances, scoring 36 goals and setting up 26 more.
In the 2019/20 campaign, he has chipped in with 5 goals and 7 assists, helping Lazio to the second place in the Serie A. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with a number of big clubs across Europe keeping an eye on the 25-year-old.

As per the report, Tottenham too are among the clubs retaining an interest in Milinkovic-Savic. Our manager Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the Serbian ace. Having tried to sign him at Manchester United before, the Portuguese is intent on landing the midfielder’s signing at Tottenham (h/t Daily Mail).
A goal-scoring midfielder would be welcome
Tanguy Ndombele has failed to live up to the billing in his debut season. Whereas, Tottenham sold Christian Erisken in the January transfer window. This means our club does not have a player who can provide goals from the middle of the park.
Having such a player would ease the burden on our attack-minded players. And Milinkovic-Savic would bring just that to the table. The midfield powerhouse can contribute with goals and assists consistently, as seen with Lazio.
However, given the amount of interest in him, securing his signing will not be easy. Our rivals Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on signing the midfielder as well. Moreover, PSG are intent on securing his signature while Real Madrid and Juventus are also believed to be monitoring his situation (h/t Daily Mail).
