On 5th May 2010, Tottenham qualified for the Champions League for the first time ever
The 5th of May 2010 will always be a memorable date for a Tottenham fan as it was on this day that the club qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever.
The qualification was achieved in dramatic fashion as our team took on Manchester City in a direct shoot-out for the final UCL spot in the Premier League. Facing the Cityzens away from home was a daunting prospect, but when Peter Crouch headed home in the 82nd minute, it sent us fans into pandemonium.
A 1-0 win was enough as Harry Redknapp’s side confirmed qualification for the next season’s Champions League football. There were scenes of celebrations soon after, as players drenched manager Redknapp in alcohol while he was giving his post-match interview.
