Tottenham keen on signing Ajax star Sergino Dest
According to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Ajax full-back Sergino Dest in the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old Dest came through the youth ranks at the Ajax academy and broke into the first-team in the 2019/20 campaign. The teenager enjoyed a fine breakthrough campaign, finishing with two goals and six assists from 36 matches in all competitions.

Dest also made his debut for the US Men’s National Team in September last year and has accrued three international caps so far this term.
Back in October, Bleacher Report had claimed that both Arsenal and Tottenham are monitoring the youngster. And as per the aforementioned report, Spurs are now planning to make a move for the teenager ahead of the next season.
The right-back slot has been a problematic one for Tottenham this season. The club sold Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid last summer, but did not bring in any replacement. Moreover, Kyle Walker-Peters was loaned out to Southampton in January, leaving Serge Aurier as the only recognised right-back in the squad.
The Ivorian has impressed going forward, but has let the team down on a number of occasions with his calamitous defending. Jose Mourinho has used Japhet Tanganga in the position. And while the youngster has done a decent job, he is not a natural in the role.

As a result, bringing in a new right-back should be a priority for the club. And Dest, in that regard, would be a good choice given his age and potential.
However, he is not the only right-back that our club has been linked to. The likes of Thomas Meunier and Max Aarons have also been mentioned. So, it will be interesting to see who the club recruits before next season.
