Tottenham starlet Juan Foyth offered to Barcelona

According to a report from Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mail), Tottenham starlet Juan Foyth has been offered to La Liga champions Barcelona.

Foyth arrived at Tottenham in 2017 from Argentine outfit Estudiantes, but hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular at the North London club. Till date, the 22-year-old has featured just 32 times for the club, contributing with one goal in the process.

The ongoing campaign has been a difficult one for Foyth due to injury issues. The defender, who can also play in midfield, has made just seven appearances in 2019/20. Having not featured since December last year, Foyth has failed to make an impression on manager Jose Mourinho.

The emergence of Japhet Tanganga has also had an impact on the 22-year-old’s reduced playing time at Tottenham. As a result, Foyth’s future has been cast in doubt, with the Argentine international himself claiming that he would be open to an exit in the summer.

And now, the aforementioned report claims that the 22-year-old has been offered to La Liga champions Barcelona. The Catalans could be losing Samuel Umtiti and Jean-Clair Todibo in the summer transfer window and the Tottenham man is seen as a cheap alternative. (h/t Daily Mail)

Foyth has two years left on his current contract with our club. While he hasn’t made the best of impressions this season, the Argentine is filled with potential. Moreover his versatility offers added options to the team.

And hence, selling him might not be the most prudent move at the time. Perhaps, a loan deal to help him with game time and confidence would work out well.
