Mauricio Pochettino opens up on his relationship with Jose Mourinho

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has opened up on his relationship with successor Jose Mourinho. The Argentine has claimed that he is good friends with the current Spurs boss and lavished praise on the Portuguese.

Pochettinho was relieved from his managerial duties in November last year after Spurs were off to a disastrous start to the 2019/20 campaign. After his exit, Mourinho, who was without a job since leaving Manchester United in 2018, was brought in as the new Spurs boss.

Pochettino was asked about his relationship with his successor in an interview on Sky Sports. And our former boss revealed that he had spoken with Jose after getting the sack. He also claimed that Tottenham are in the hands of one of the best managers in the world.

“We talked. He is a very good friend. He was always nice with me when I started my career with Espanyol and he was with Real Madrid.  I respect him like a professional, he is one of the greatest coaches in the world. And of course, now I wish him all the best.”

Pochettino, whose gardening leave with Tottenham came to an earlier this week, also claimed that he wanted to take up a job in the Premier League. (h/t Sky Sports)

“I love England. My idea is to keep living in London. But at the same time I am open to different countries, to listen and see what happens.”
