Hugo Lloris shows he still has it with wonder save in training

Hugo Lloris has received a lot of flak in recent months. The Tottenham Hotspur captain, who turned 33 this year, has been at the end of admittedly deserved criticism for his errors.

A veteran who also led his nation to World Cup glory just two years ago, Lloris’ quality is undoubted. As with any other player, he has gotten slower with age.

He rolled back the years in training as he made a smart save to deny Spurs ace Harry Kane. The video was captured and uploaded on the club’s official Twitter account.

The England skipper took the ball and smashed one towards the far corner with his right foot. Lloris, however, was alert and dove low to pull off what was an excellent striker.

The video brought back memories of the Frenchman’s fine performances over the better part of a decade in the Spurs goal. Signed in 2012 from Lyon, Lloris has made 316 appearances for the Lilywhites.

With 251 appearances, he is also the sixth most-capped Spurs player in Premier League history.

He often throws up reminders of his ability in matches. His current situation at Spurs can be best described using the Champions League tie against RB Leipzig.

It was a tale of two matches for Lloris as he followed up a man of the match performance in the first leg with a disaster class in the second.

Spurs will need to replace the Frenchman in the coming years. A number of keepers have been linked, with the latest being Ugurcan Cakir.

However, for now,, he remains the club’s undisputed number one and at moments it’s clear to see why.
