Tottenham Hotspur to kick off Project Restart with mouthwatering tie at home

According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur could kick off Project Restart with the crucial match at home against Manchester United.

The original restart date of June 12 is set to be scrapped. This comes following the clubs’ insistence that players need three weeks of full-contact training before playing games.

Football has been on hold since the start of March due to COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown in the UK. According to the report, meetings will take place this week to determine the restart date, which is likely to be Friday night.

League chiefs are targeting either June 19 or June 29 as the most likely date for the restart. It could all kick off in North London as Tottenham take on United.

Tottenham have a fully fit squad to choose from

The game will be an excellent way to restart the season, given its importance to both clubs. Although United are primely placed to challenge Chelsea for the fourth spot, a fully fit Spurs squad will present a formidable challenge.

Tottenham are currently 8th and have an outside chance of qualifying for the top four. A victory over the Red Devils will bring us to within a point of them.

With a fully fit squad finally at his disposal, Jose Mourinho has nine games to rescue a season that has otherwise been disappointing. Being able to qualify for the Champions League will be seen as a success on the pitch.

The added benefit of taking part in the lucrative competition will also be an added bonus to the club’s coffers.

The match also carries a personal significance to Mourinho. The Spurs boss was unceremoniously dismissed from the Old Trafford hot seat before taking over at Tottenham.

United have done well in recent months and have climbed up the table. Being the party pooper that he is, there is no one better than the Portuguese to bring them crashing down to earth.
