Lazio willing to listen to offers for Tottenham Hotspur target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
According to Sky Sports Italia (h/t Daily Mail), Lazio’s sporting director Igli Tare has revealed that the club is willing to listen to offers for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 25-year-old has been one of Lazio’s best players. He has played a key role as Simone Inzaghi’s side attempt to dethrone Juventus. The Serbian scored 5 goals and 7 assists in 31 appearances for the Italians before the season was suspended.
Spurs aren’t the only Premier League team keen on the player. He is also attracting attention from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
Milinkovic-Savic is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until 2024. Lazio value him at £50million, an amount they are not willing to compromise on.
Although it was initially believed that Lazio will not sell their prized asset, things have now changed. The Italians are now willing to strike a deal that is mutually beneficial to both the player and the club.
Tare has touched on the effect the coronavirus pandemic has on the transfer market. He believes that the top players will still demand a king’s ransom irrespective of the situation. (h/t Daily Mail)
“If there is a possibility that satisfies the club and the player, it will be taken into consideration. If there is not, he is happy and we are very happy for him to stay.”
With four years left on his contract, Lazio are in no hurry to sell. It will take something special from Tottenham to interest the Italians. Given our financial situation, it is unlikely that we have the means to do so.
