Tottenham Hotspur win the race for Morgan Sanson
According to French publication L’Equipe via Sport Witness (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur appear to have beaten Arsenal and West Ham to Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson.
The French star is one of Ligue 1’s most consistent performers. Having spent all his career in France, he is believed to be keen on a new challenge.
The 25-year-old midfielder made a name for himself at Montpellier before moving to the Orange Velodrome in 2017. He has since enhanced his reputation and is a vital cog for Les Olympiens.
A versatile player, Sanson is capable fo playing in numerous positions. He has made 30 appearances for the club this season and has scored 5 goals and 5 assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Spurs are just one of the Premier League teams interested in the player. The likes of Arsenal, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are all keen on the midfielder.
According to the report, Sanson prefers to move to Tottenham. It will come as welcome news to Jose Mourinho, who has seen his side appear too one-dimensional in the middle of the park. With a return to the Champions League a top priority, blooding in the Frenchman will strengthen us immeasurably.
One concern is the player’s lack of experience playing outside France. It remains to be seen if he can adapt to football in England. As illustrated by Tanguy Ndombele, it isn’t as easy as it appears.
