Delle Alli joins forces with Trent Alexander-Arnold to send anti-racism message

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli has teamed up with Trent Alexander-Arnold to send a powerful and important message against racism.

The England duo have spoken out following the widespread protests throughout the world in response to the shocking death of a black American, George Floyd.

Alli admitted that as sportsmen, they are role models to a number of people. Player too are humans and feel the same as any other person. He believes football can be a massive voice in making the message heard.

“With our platforms hopefully we can help out as much as we can.”

The Spurs star took to Instagram to post an image of a black background with the message ‘black lives matter’. With this Alli has shown he is not afraid to stand up for what he believes is right.

Liverpool became the first Premier League side to publically support the Black Lives Matter movement last Monday. Alexander-Arnold was one of the first to post the image on his social media with the message, ‘Unity is strength’.

The message has been echoed by Alli who admitted that the issue isn’t something new.

“It’s important to make it clear that everyone is hurting and this isn’t something new.”

Both the players are continuing to tackle social issues in spite of their busy schedules. From Friday, they will take part in a FIFA 20 tournament as part of a COVID-19 relief fundraiser, ‘Gamers without Borders’. (h/t Sky Sports)

Alli will face off against Juventus star Paulo Dybala.

Racism has no place in football or outside. In spite of constantly being told so, a number of supporters across Europe still indulge in the disgraceful act.

Players here, including Alli, have shown that their moral compass is pointed the right way. Hopefully, in time, we can change people’s mindset, one at a time.
