Ander Herrera praises Jose Mourinho’s no-nonsense attitude
Speaking to Spanish outlet AS (h/t Daily Mail), former Manchester United star Ander Herrera has praised Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho.
The PSG star had thrived under the Portuguese manager during his spell at United. Although Mourinho fell out with a number of players, Herrera reveals he did not have any problem with those that worked hard. (h/t Daily Mail)
“He’s got personality yes but if you’re up front with him, work hard, don’t hide and don’t mess him about, you won’t have any problems.”
Although the approach could lead to a lot of conflicts, with the right players, it can also work wonders. The same is understood by Herrera who understands the need to be mature and tough. (h/t Daily Mail)
“He’s a beast with people who aren’t honest.”
Spurs fans will also be aware of our manager’s confrontational style. The manager’s stinging rebuke of Tanguy Ndombele made a lot of news with the player even being linked with a move away.
The Frenchman’s ability is not in question. One of the finest players in France, Spurs brought him in on a club record fee last summer.
He set pulses racing by scoring on his debut, but has failed to hit top year since. Given his ability, Mourinho has every right to question his application on the field.
We are hopeful that Ndombele will come back a better player once he football resumes. The signs from the training videos so far have been positive.

Mourinho is a manager who has won the biggest trophies in club football. One of the best of his generation, his antics sometimes come across as divisive.
However, players too will have to do their best and try to meet the manager’s expectations. As Herrera mentioned, all he wants the players to do is be mature and honest. Frankly, that is not much to ask.
