Tottenham restart their season on Friday night with a home game against Manchester United. Given the current situation in the Premier League table, the clash will be a pivotal one for both the teams.

The Premier League has confirmed the match officials for the game, with Jon Moss set to be the referee with Eddie Smart and Neil Davies set to be his assistants. Andre Marriner will be the fourth official whereas Graham Scott will be the VAR. (h/t Football.london)

The announcement comes as a mixed package for Tottenham. Moss has overseen two of our games this season, both of which we failed to win – a 1-1 draw against Burnley and a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 49-year-old last officiated a Tottenham vs Manchester United clash in 2017, when our manager, Jose Mourinho was in the opposition dugout as the Red Devils won 1-0 at Old Trafford.

Now to the good part, Moss has refereed in two of our home games against United till date – both happening at the White Hart Lane. And we didn’t lose either games.

The first one, in December 2014, ended in a goalless draw. The second one was the final game at the White Hart Lane in May 2017, in which Spurs prevailed 2-1.

Moss has never officiated a game at our new home so far. Hopefully, when he blows the final whistle on Friday night, we end up on the winning side and further our chances in the top four race.
