26-year-old target set to snub Tottenham in favour of European giants

Arkadiusz Milik to snub Tottenham for Juventus

According to a report from Tuttosport (h/t Football.london), Tottenham have been dealt a blow in the pursuit of Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik. The 26-year-old Polish international, as per the report, prefers a move to Serie A champions Juventus.

Milik has been with Napoli since 2016 and has been an impressive performer for the Serie A outfit. Till date, he has featured 113 times for the club, scoring 47 goals. In 26 matches this season, the striker has netted 13 goals in all competitions.

However, the Polish international is entering the final year of his contract and is being linked heavily with an exit. (h/t Football.london)

Tottenham are among one of the clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old Milik. It is no secret that the club is in need of urgent reinforcements in the centre-forward area. Harry Kane is the only senior striker available at manager Jose Mourinho’s disposal currently, with Spurs letting Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente leave last summer.

So, when the England captain picked up a serious injury in January, the club struggled in his absence. A quality backup for Kane is an urgent necessity at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Milik, to that end, would have been a viable choice for the club.

However, according to the report, the Poland international favours a transfer to Serie A champions Juventus over Tottenham. It is claimed that the chance to play alongside top stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala has made him yearn for a move to Turin. (h/t Football.london)

This comes after Milik’s agent had expressed his apprehensions over joining Spurs. So, it seems like we will not be able to sign the 26-year-old this summer and will need to look elsewhere for a new striker.
