Dele Alli to miss the North London Derby against Arsenal on Sunday

In what will be quite a blow, Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli will once again be unavailable for selection when the team takes on Arsenal in a crunch North London derby this weekend. (h/t TottenhamHotspur.com)

It will be the third straight match that Alli misses out on, after having been sidelined for the last two games against Everton and Bournemouth.

Prior to the game against Bournemouth earlier this week, manager Jose Mourinho had confirmed that the England international had a hamstring issue which the club did not want to risk. (h/t TottenhamHotspur.com)

“It’s small, but he’s not ready for tomorrow. You know that he has a little history about his hamstring, so he has to be careful, and not risk it when you know that he has a little problem there.”

And, it seems as though the 24-year-old hasn’t recovered sufficiently enough to be ready for the North London Derby. When asked about Alli’s availability for the game during his pre-match press conference, Mourinho replied with a curt ‘No’.

Apart from Alli, Tottenham will also be without the services of fellow Englishman Eric Dier. The 26-year-old is currently serving a four-match ban handed by FA, for the incident that happened after the FA Cup defeat to Norwich.

It is not all bad news though, as youngsters Japhet Tanganga and Troy Parrott have recovered from their respective fitness troubles. The duo are back in training and may get some valuable minutes in the matches to come.

Tottenham go into the North London derby – the first one at our new home – in the ninth position, a place and a point behind our bitter rivals Arsenal. A defeat here could spell an end to any hopes of securing Europa League football for next season.
