Tanguy Ndombele ruled out for the rest of the season
As reported by the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that midfield star Tanguy Ndombele will not be available for the remainder of the campaign due to injury.
Ndombele joined Tottenham from French club Olympique Lyon last summer in a club-record deal. However, things have panned out according to plans for the 23-year-old, who has struggled for form and fitness in his debut season in England.
Things have gotten much worse for him since Jose Mourinho took over the reins of the club last November. The Frenchman has hardly got a regular run in the side under Mou, who has been critical of the midfielder in public on multiple occasions.
Ndombele last started a match for Tottenham in the ill-fated defeat against Burnley back in March. The 23-year-old had hardly featured since the restart of the campaign last season.
Ndombele missed the win against Newcastle United on Wednesday due to an injury. And now, Mourinho has confirmed that the Frenchman will not be able to recover for the remaining two matches. (h/t Evening Standard)
“I know that Ndombele will not help us because his injury will keep him out for the next two matches.”
Mourinho, though, was more hopeful about the possibility of Dele Alli being available for at least on the final matches, while Eric Dier should also return after having served out his suspension. (h/t Evening Standard)
