Report: Tottenham willing to submit £14.5m offer for 29-year-old Real Madrid star
Tottenham ready to make an offer for Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez
According to a report from Defensa Central (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are willing to act on the interest in Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez by making an offer of £14.5m.
The 29-year-old Vazquez came through the Real Madrid academy, but had to bide his time to break into the first-team. After a loan spell away at Espanyol in 2014/15, the winger was eased into the senior team at the Santiago Bernabeu. Over the years he has grown into a valuable member of the squad that is studded with star names.
Till date, Vazquez has made 205 appearances, scoring 24 goals and setting up 46 more. However, he has dropped down the pecking order in 2019/20 and has found game-time hard to come by. Indeed, the winger has featured just 22 times across all competitions, starting just eight La Liga matches in total.
With Vazquez in the final year of his current contract with Real Madrid, the La Liga champions are looking to offload him in the summer as manager Zinedine Zidane is no longer reliant on him. (h/t Express)
This has led to speculations surrounding his future, with Tottenham reportedly expressing an interest in securing the Spanish international’s services.
While there are quite a few options for manager Jose Mourinho in the wide areas, adding a versatile player like Vazquez, who is known for his work-rate, would be a smart move to bolster depth and quality within the squad.
To that end, Spurs are willing to make an offer of £14.5m to snap up the Spaniard’s signing. (h/t Express)
