Everton consider withdrawing offer for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

The Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg – Everton – Tottenham transfer saga continues to take new turns and twists. After it emerged that Southampton had accepted an offer from Everton for the Danish international, The Telegraph is now claiming that the Toffees could withdraw their offer as the player has his heart set on a switch to Spurs.

The 24-year-old Hojbjerg has emerged as a top transfer target for Spurs, with manager Jose Mourinho intent on adding him to the midfield. However, Everton seemed to have swooped Hojbjerg away, when Southampton accepted a £25m offer from them for their former captain.

Subsequently, it was also claimed that Hojbjerg had visited Everton’s training facility and had even agreed personal terms as well. But as per an update from The Telegraph, a deal is far from being complete and Everton are now even considering backing out of the deal.

This is because Hojbjerg has his heart firmly set on a transfer to Tottenham, something which he has made Southampton aware of on a couple of occasions. (h/t The Telegraph)

Having joined Southampton from Bayern Munich in 2016, Hojbjerg has grown into a reliable performer in the centre of the park. His experience, coupled with his age, would make him an ideal fit for Mourinho & co.

And with Hojbjerg keen on joining us, there is confidence within the camp that we could still land the midfielder in spite of Everton’s offer. Let’s hope Daniel Levy is able to act swiftly and seal the deal.
