Demarai Gray is on Tottenham Hotspur's radar
As per a report from The Telegraph, Newcastle United are interested in signing Leicester City star Demarai Gray, who was recently linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
The 24-year-old Gray has been with Leicester for over four years now. He joined the Foxes back in January 2016 from Birmingham City. Over the years, the Englishman has shown his immense potential on a number of occasions. However, he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular in the first-team.
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has used Gray sparingly this season. Indeed, the winger started just three Premier League games this term. In total, he ended the campaign with a return of three goals and five assists from 29 appearances across all competitions.
With his contract expiring in less than a year, The Times reported last week that Tottenham were eyeing a swoop for the 24-year-old Gray. The speculations intensified after Jose Mourinho spoke with the Englishman after Spurs beat Leicester 3-0 last week.
Now, The Telegraph is claiming that Newcastle United, too, are interested in signing the former Birmingham City ace ahead of next season.
The Magpies might have the upper hand in terms of Gray getting more playing time. But the chance to play European football and work under Mourinho could tempt him to join Spurs.
Tottenham have a number of options in the wide areas. But signing Gray would add further quality, while also adding an element of X-Factor to our forward play. It will be interesting to see if the club does go after the Leicester star, who could be available on a bargain price this summer.
