Juan Foyth keen to stay at Tottenham and fight for place
According to The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare, Tottenham Hotspur youngster Juan Foyth wants to stay put at the club and fight for his place amid speculations over his future.
The 22-year-old Foyth joined Tottenham in 2017, from Argentine club Estudiantes. However, the defender has been unable to establish himself as a regular at the club. In fact, till date, he has made just 32 first-team appearances for Spurs.
Foyth hardly featured in the 2019/20 campaign, more so once Jose Mourinho took over the reins at the club. While injuries played a part in his reduced game time, the player himself failed to make the most of the few chances that came his way.

This had seen him get linked with an exit from the club, with newly-promoted Premier League side Leeds United showing an interest in signing him. Foyth’s agent hasn’t been shy of talking up an exit for his client in the past either. However, as per The Athletic, the 22-year-old is keen on staying at Tottenham and fight for a starting berth next season.
This update is in line with a recent interview that the Argentine international gave, wherein he expressed his desire to stay with the club.
Foyth did not play a single minute of football in the second half of the campaign for us. However, following the departure of Jan Vertonghen, there could be a space open at the heart of the defence at the club.
Plus, Foyth’s ability to play at right-back could come in handy as well with Kyle Walker-Peters leaving the club permanently and Serge Aurier heavily linked with an exit as well.

Things may haven’t gone as per plans for Foyth at Tottenham so far. But the Argentine is a talented footballer with loads of potential. However, game time is necessary for him to continue his development. Mourinho should take a closer look at the defender during the pre-season before taking a call on his future.
