Tottenham interested in Rhian Brewster

According to Football Insider (h/t Football.london), Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Liverpool prospect Rhian Brewster on loan for the 2020/21 season.

The 20-year-old striker is one of the most highly-rated prospects to have come through the Liverpool academy ranks in recent years. Having made his senior debut in September 2019, Brewster has gone on to feature two more times for the Reds.

Brewster was loaned out to Swansea City for the second half of the 2019/20 campaign, where he made quite the impact. The young Englishman featured 22 times for the Championship side and found the back of the net on 11 occasions, leading their push for a promotion. However, they were eliminated in the playoff semi-finals.

Back at Liverpool, the youngster has made a huge impression, scoring three goals in two matches in the pre-season. Naturally, there has been a lot of interest in Brewster, with a host of Premier League clubs lining up to sign him on loan. (h/t Mirror)

And, as per the aforementioned report, Tottenham, too, are looking at the possibility of bringing in the England youth international on a season-long temporary deal. (h/t Football.london)

It is no secret that the club are in need of a striker to operate as a cover for star forward Harry Kane. As things stand, we do not have any natural centre-forward apart from the England captain on the books. So, signing someone to provide backup and fill in during times of an injury is a must.

However, Brewster might not be the most realistic option. True that he is a special talent, and Liverpool would loan him out for him to gain regular game-time. But that may not be a given at Tottenham, where he would always be a backup to Kane.

In addition, it has been claimed that Sheffield United are leading the race for the young Englishman. (h/t Mirror)
