Tottenham fans react as Ollie Watkins joins Aston Villa
As reported by Sky Sports, Aston Villa have signed striker Ollie Watkins, who was linked with Tottenham, in a club record £28m deal from EFL Championship side Brentford.
The 24-year-old had emerged as a potential target for Tottenham Hotspur with the club keen on recruiting a striker as backup for Harry Kane. However, Villa have beaten the North Londoners to the punch, snapping up the Englishman’s signing.
As per the report, Villa shelled out an initial £28m for Watkins which could rise to £33m with add-ons. The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the club.

Watkins plundered 26 goals in 50 matches in all competitions last season, carrying Brentford to the brink of promotion to the Premier League. Signing him would have been a great coup for us given the potential he had shown.
However, it is Villa who have snapped up the Englishman and a large section of Tottenham supporters were left disappointed and frustrated with the outcome of this transfer race. Here we bring you some of the reactions from the fans on the news.

People aren’t annoyed we’ve lost out on Ollie Watkins. It’s the fact the 8th richest club the world couldn’t match the finances offered of Aston Villa…

Villa now outspending us.. the same villa that are in their second season back in the premier League where as we rolled off 4 back to back seasons in the cl! Reached the final, finished second in the league and posted record profits in that time. Defending enic now is laughable!

Doesn’t surprise me, can’t see us signing a striker in this window, it will all be too much for Harry again this season.
